VALUE THE FAMILY – NOT FAMILY VALUES

Most people in America are just about fed up with this “FAMILY VALUES” crap.

It began in the 70’s, Anita Bryant was their principal hate-spewing spokesperson; she misrepresented, vilified and demonized gay people to the point she had almost everyone in America convinced that gay people were going after their children to recruit them and convert them into a queer lifestyle. It was all done under the premise that “FAMILY VALUES” had to be defended and preserved. 

It was then that code words and phrases began to surface like “PROTECT THE CHILDREN” and the fucking religious fanatics adopted all these mantras and fallacies. 

We had a lot of struggles and many a politician profited from the family values, protect the children crap, including Reagan and most infamous of them all was Dan Quayle who was not only intellectually challenged but carried within him a crass hatred of anything that wasn’t conservative.

The retrograde, backwards and prejudiced minority eventually gained control of the Republican Party, its leadership and its soul and now we are faced with the same challenge from them. The difference now is that we know where they are coming from; we don’t accept their little code words and phrases they use to energize their base.

Most Americans these days reject all that talk and can see right through the hypocrisy and the ill motivated bigotry and as much as the Republicans want to turn these coming elections into a social issues contest…with abortion, birth control and homophobia taking center stage, the American people are more inclined to see these elections as a referendum on the economy and jobs…and make no mistake about it they know who caused the problems and they know who has been obstructing and sabotaging any efforts to fix the fucking mess they left us after the failed Presidency of George W. Bush. And again, I am not just blowing hot air out of my ass…all you have to do is look at the popularity of Congress which stands at an all-time low of 10%....imagine that, 10 fucking per cent.

The fact that the majority of Americans are not buying into their narrative and the gays are no longer bullied or intimidated, they refuse to be humiliated and they are not asking for equal rights, they are now demanding it…all this has the fucking right wing and religious fanatics all pissed and frustrated, their desperation is such that they are showing not only lack of good judgment in picking a Republican candidate for President but they have embarked on a suicidal race to run the next elections with the most extreme, far right candidate they can find…one who would make Attila the Hun look like Gandhi. 

Collectively we are going to have to value families more and discard this family values crap…be it black and white families, opposite sex couples, same sex couples and yes, single parents as well. That is what family values is about.
