WE’VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY

I look back now in disbelief,

this would never have been possible in homophobic America of the 50’s and 60’s. It is befitting that it was in New York where at the Stonewall Inn gay people started to push back, to stand up for their rights and against homophobia and now one of the most populous states with gay populations has legalized same sex marriage.

Back in the day when being gay was not just unacceptable but downright chastised…I led a life in the Hollywood of the sixties; weaving an elegant tapestry of debauchery and promiscuity. I went to bed with some of the stars, yes…but mostly I was being passed around from one man to the other like a joint at a hippie party. I was a commodity, a very desirable young twink.

Those were the difficult days, the days of repression and fear. Every gay person became a walking case of paranoia…it wasn’t even possible to go to a public bathroom without the fear of being arrested. It got so bad that if you dared go and take a piss at a gay bar, the moment you pulled out your cock and began to pee; some undercover cop would come from behind and slap the handcuffs on you; he wouldn’t even have the decency to allow you to finish taking a piss…because he got a kick out of seeing you piss on yourself while he tied you up.

I did have such an experience and the son of a bitch actually pushed me against the urinal so that I would miss my piss stream aim…I did stop pissing and he forced me violently to my knees as he pulled out his short, mutilated dick forcing me to suck it. It was obvious to me that being so poorly endowed he was doubly perturbed by watching me taking a piss because I clearly had a cock three times the size of his and that was while mine was still soft.

Now, in the reflexive years, I stare back at that troubled past and reminisce. I don’t deny I had lots of fun and nearly fucked my brains out; but I also realize how much more difficult things were back then. I see how in some places in America it is even legal to be married to someone you love, even if you are of the same sex.

I still live in a backward and homophobic state…Florida isn’t exactly a paradise for human rights but it is safe and active within some pockets of civilization…like Fort Lauderdale. I leave out Miami because the whole area with the exception of South Beach that exists for the gay tourists, Miami continues to be not any better than what Anita Bryant had envisioned. I even avoid trips there and I look upon those homophobes with great disdain.
