MAY THE 20TH IS CUBAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

Today, instead of celebrating, I weep for the land of my birth

Fifty one years after leaving my homeland, I still find it difficult to believe let alone accept that the land where I was born is enslaved, repressed and ridden with misery. I am now first and foremost an American citizen but on this day, I weep for that beautiful land where I was born.
