I still can’t get over how these fringe religions make fanatics out of people. I have lived in America for over 50 years and still look with amazement at the stupidity of religious fanaticism; whenever I hear some ignoramus say that “those who drink alcohol will go to hell” I cringe, recoil and get a disturbing feeling in my gut…I want to grab them, shake them, yell at them: “you stupid asshole, don’t you see what your religion has done to you?”

The Mormons and the Muslims for example carry it a bit too far; the Mormons of course go further and even include coffee and tea in their “Word of Wisdom” crap. The Muslims even go further than that by castigating those who consume alcohol by lashings in public.
Criminalization of alcohol is something we are all familiar with here in America; after all, PROHIBITION brought us some peripheral gifts: organized crime and the Mafia. We had a very corrupt society and the whole country was going to hell because people like to take a gulp now
and then and the law was imposed by religious fanatics to make everyone else conform to their erroneous interpretations of the Scriptures.
And so it goes that it is not only about alcohol…it is about controlling their flock, it is about gaining full domination over their followers…this gives religion power and wealth. We see how it also is carried out to ridiculous levels when it comes to sexual matters. The Catholic Church for example vilifies homosexuality and yet they have a much higher percentage of gays serving in the hierarchy than any other organized religion; it easily translates into priests molesting children, when they could so easily avoid this embarrassment by allowing priests to marry…either opposite or same sex marriage and be done with the issue.
We know how some of these Protestant fringe religions and some of the mainstream kind as well have been plagued with incidents of their leaders engaging in adultery, prostitution, homosexuality and other more severe vices, all the while going to church on Sundays or even preaching from the pulpit. It is all hypocritical and stupid.
