“Don’t even go there” goes the saying
To use Obama’s metaphor of the car in the ditch, I doubt seriously that anyone of us would like to travel in that car with the Republicans at the wheel; assuming they know how to drive, they can get it out of that ditch and will somehow get the car keys again..
Where do the Teahadist-Republicans want to take us? Well, it is a place you don’t want to go, you don’t want to live in, you will not recognize and it sure as hell will not be pleasant. Why do I say that? Because all indications are that Republicans are only concerned with making President Obama a one term President so that they can benefit the very rich and the corporations.
We have already seen how the Teahadist-Republicans insisted in extending tax cuts to the very rich. We have also seen the failure to reinstate some of the regulations that kept our country on a sound economic track while rewarding those who created the problem with obscene bonuses and severance packages. We also see how a tremendous influence and power the Health Insurance companies have and how they extract profits from human misery…these are but parasites of society that don’t produce anything or offer any services…they are the actual death panels the Republicans so vehemently scared us with.
And how about the oil companies? That too seems abundantly clear: They want to be able to continue to operate without social conscience, respect for the environment and make the most profit out of the minimum amount of investment…it is capitalism at its worst.
If you take into consideration that we already have the technology to free us from fossil fuels but that it is the oil companies who are blocking, sabotaging, interrupting, delaying and opposing any efforts for America to make any real progress in the use of alternative fuels. One can also observe that a third world nation, poor and backwards like Brazil took steps over thirty years ago to rid themselves of their dependency on foreign oil and modified their car engines to run on Ethanol and built the largest hydroelectric dam in the world: ITAIPU.
It no secret that the Teahadist-Republican agenda includes: eliminating Social Security altogether, ending public education, eliminating government agencies that look after product safety (FDA), labor (OSHA) Doing away with EPA and much, much more…it is basically consolidating a welfare state for the very rich and the corporations where everything is held privately and the government is reduced to impose moral laws…(CULTURE WARS)
But the real big pill that is going to be very hard to swallow is that of the reduction of Social Security for us seniors. If you take into consideration that the amount received monthly by most elderly is not even sufficient to maintain a level of ordinary life without frills and luxuries…because they are well below the poverty line in the scales…one asks: “If what we get from Social Security is not enough to feed sparrows, then what will happen if the Republicans knock off a couple of hundred dollars from it? Or if they reduce the Medicare budget, or if they end Medicaid? Certainly these probabilities or possibilities are not very attractive to all of us on Social Security or those who are soon to join our ranks. Mind you, all of this is being done so that the very rich and the corporations have more tax breaks, more subsidies, more power at our expense. That top 2% of the very rich oligarchy wants to solidify their power so that America has only two classes: THE POOR AND THE VERY RICH. Do we really want to take a ride in that car with the Teahadist Republicans at the wheel?
