Have you ever had one of those dreams in which you were falling, falling and would wake up just before you hit the ground? Or, have you ever been sleeping and had your spirit, soul or whatever you want to call it actually leave your body and you are left up there suspended by the ceiling looking down at yourself sleeping?

Have you ever been so close to death that you actually went through the proverbial tunnel, saw the light at the end and you were traveling at incredible speeds, your life was unfolding before you in a matter of seconds, you actually felt the relief of not owning a physical body and it felt so good you didn’t want to come back…only somewhere in the trajectory of that journey through the tunnel somebody or something told you “it is not time, you can’t continue, you have to go back”.

I had that one experience once (car accident) and I can vividly remember how I felt afterwards…I felt cheated, disappointed, angry and depressed…I didn’t want to come back to the physical world and that was that…it felt so good while I was there, no pain, no more pettiness, no injustice…it all seemed to make sense at the time.

That one experience above all others made me realize how false and useless religion was. Whatever is out there, if we as individuals somehow survive in spirit or thought beyond the end of our corporal bodies; it has nothing to do with organized religion. In my opinion, religion is nothing more than a business…much like movie theaters but religion has the advantage that they play this guilt and blackmail trip on you…if you do as we say then you are going to obtain eternal life. That my friends is not only a very cruel and perverted form of extortion but an immoral base in which to lay the foundations of a philosophy.
