NEW DISCOVERIES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED BY THE PENTAGON THAT THERE ARE UNTOLD RICHES IN AFGHANISTAN

Is this a ploy to make the American public accept this war? Is this the answer to the poverty that plagues this unfortunate country? What if this is true? Would we not see an increase in the efforts on the part of the Taliban to re-take the country so they can exploit those riches and use the money to expand their agenda?

A new Pentagon assessment released Monday says Afghanistan may hold a trillion dollars in mineral wealth, but the report ran into skepticism from miners and even other U.S. government officials.
The Defense Department identified $908 billion in mineral reserves in Afghanistan, including iron, copper, cobalt and gold. It said the reserves may include up to $223 billion in oil and gas as well as lithium, used in rechargeable batteries and other consumer products.”
Ronald Neumann, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, said the 
mineral wealth was important in the long run but unlikely to make a difference in the war effort.
"Yes, it can make a huge difference in the economic viability of the country, but not quickly," he said. "Does it solve your problem of funding the Afghan army next year? No."
Of course this would be great news to wean Afghanistan from their production of poppies for the manufacture of drugs which seems to be the country’s only income.

but.....but.....aren't our troops there to bring democracy, freedom and Jesus(a triple play oxymoron) to the inhabitants? That's what we were told?! Deceiving people with lies(how else) and half truths(the best they can do) is just down right dirty.....just look at christianity(ALL OF IT), they are experts at it! I thought we were there to help plant poppies and harvest them........
