One of the most amazing and important concepts of Christianity and one of the few that I am inclined to support is that love has to be unconditional. You love your neighbor regardless of what or who he is, no matter what the station in life or the color of his eyes or skin.
I am always amazed when I hear of a family “disowning” a son or daughter when they find out their sexual orientation does not fit their erroneous interpretation of the Scriptures. I am even more disturbed by the repudiation and humiliation that these families and their religious institutions subject those who do not follow their prescribed manner of sexual behavior.
Not only is it an affront and a gross violation of Christian principles for them to repudiate their offspring, but it is also downright immoral and destructive to society. We have seen many suicides as a consequence of this crap and it has to stop.
My opinion is that if you have your religion as the most important aspect of your life, it consumes all of your time and it even takes precedent over family, country and self; then you are in my book a religious fanatic. If you have little time left after fulfilling all your religious activities where you can’t attend a concert or go see a movie now and then; if you don’t have time to read anything other than your Bible; excluding yourself from knowledge and information and even a good novel now and again; you need to scale it down a notch.
I’m just saying….
