What will happen if we do nothing about our Health Care problem?
Let’s just take a very realistic look at what could and probably would happen if nothing is done about the rising costs of health insurance premiums and the cost of medical care.
First of all, there is no doubt that the insurance companies are going to raise their premium. They are milking this cow until it dries up. They know the end of their exploitation and abuses is coming to an end. It may not happen within this immediate period of time but it will happen.
Insurance companies are pricing themselves out of the market. They are by nature greedy and are only concerned about their bottom line. The stocks are more important than the service they think they are providing which is being the middle man and offering very little in return. They really don’t perform a useful function in our society.
What is alarming is that they are hurting our economy. Right now as it stands we are spending over 17% of our GNP in insurance costs and medical care. That is just simply unacceptable as there are other industrialized nations that only spend about 7% and are getting a lot more bang for their buck.
We now have more than 45 million people uninsured. The cost to provide insurance to employees is rising at a precipitous pace and soon employers are going to decide they can no longer afford to offer these benefits to their employees.
With the selective process that insurance companies have presently, they can pick and chose all those who are healthy and young and with low risks but they are sticking it to them anyhow, those who are young and healthy will eventually make the decision to drop their insurance altogether. This will also add to the numbers of people uninsured.
It is not difficult to envision the 45 million now uninsured to three times that number. Then the insurance companies will no longer make a profit and the general population will have nothing but resentment and contempt for them. By then, millions of people will have gone into bankruptcy and will be relegated to extreme poverty because of their inability to deal with the cost of their health care.
If you think that Emergency room waiting is bad now, wait a few years. The onslaught of sick people who are uninsured will simply triple if not quadruple and the crisis will be for hospitals with emergency facilities to deal with. Death panels will then become a reality and there is nothing the Sarah Palins of this country can do about it.
Teabaggers and Birthers will be cursing themselves for having been manipulated and motivated to oppose health care. The Republicans will no doubt cast the blame on President Obama but I think the American voter will eventually realize that it is the result of too much lobbying, lies and demagoguery from politicians in the pockets of special interests.
Perhaps our democracy will not survive such a crisis. It is very possible that we will see another great depression. It is almost certain that we will lose our place as one of the better places to live on this earth as crime, poverty, illness and misery invades every corner of this great nation of ours.
So, have it your way, you mother fucking, insensitive bastards. Kill health care; continue to live in the lap of luxury in your house in the Hamptons because your days of loftiness are numbered. Just like vultures, they will choke and die from the poisoned carrion they themselves killed.

Until the insurance companies reach a point of diminishing returns it is in their immeadiate interests to delay or kill real reform. Once the point of diminishing returns gets hit then they'll be up at the government trough looking for a bailout that could make the bank/auto look like pocket change.
