I just wanted to reassure you about me and my beliefs. I am not one of those recalcitrant Cubans who are just repeating talking points. They as a rule are gullible and can be easily misled. It has been a shame and a black eye on the Cuban community that Republican politicians come to Miami and they stand in “La Esquina de Tejas, Little Havana, USA” and yell ‘VIVA CUBA LIBRE” and it automatically gives them their votes particularly if they favor a continuation of the embargo.

Miami Cubans have accused Democrats of being pro-communist, they even thought Kennedy was a communist, Carter, Kerry’s wife Teresa and now Obama. You can’t tell them any different just like you can’t tell a Birther that Obama was born in Hawaii, even when you show them the certificate itself.

You are most likely familiar with the psychology term “SELECTIVE REASONING” and your Venezuelan friend is probably suffering from that.

I think that I might be credible simply because I am a legitimate left leaning, vociferous liberal and I fly the banners in the four winds very proud to wear my badge of liberal, gay, Cuban and educated. Not one person is going to make me feel bad about that. As Eleanor Roosevelt said: “no one can humiliate you without your consent”
