58% of South Carolina’s public school students receive food assistance from the state and a disproportionate number of those who do are African-American.

Oh, and Lt. Governor Bauer considers himself to be a good Christian.
Which leads one to surmise that he missed church the day they discussed chapter 3 verse 11 of the Gospel According to Luke where it says:
And John the Baptist would answer and say to them, “Let the man with two tunics share with him who has none, and let him who has food do likewise.”

I read reports of his comments and you're the first person to attribute a racial motivation to the Lt. Governor. I think that we can truly call this the usual class warfare that we expect from the Repub's. There's nothing in his reported comments to indicate he'd feel differently if the aid were going to someone who's white.

That may be true, but the reality is that over 55% of the people in his state are black and more than half of these are receiving some kind of help. I think that is what he is referring to. Besides, the Republican Party is the refuge for all racists, homophobes, xenophobes and religious fanatics, throw in a few whacko Teabaggers and Birthers and you have your answer.
