On Spin

I had to bite my tongue to refrain from blogging and saying how I really feel. But I have to let it go now and let off some steam.

Not only am I pissed at the American people, I am now considering that democracy is just an illusion. I should think that after eight years of Bush and the Republicans, violating laws, usurping power, lying shamelessly to the American people and the world, and then, to put the icing on the cake, we go through the month of August, filled with Town Hall meetings that were clearly sabotaged by special interests, not grass root efforts as the Republicans had claimed. I just don’t see how democracy can work under these conditions.

If you have the majority of an electorate vote to send their representatives to Washington in order to legislate change and express the wishes of the constituents and they turn around and represent the opposite, the special interests and the Insurance companies, then I say there is very little hope for democracy…it is an illusion in America, it is a dying concept, a failed experiment.

I will say further that if I were President Obama, I would just not run for reelection in 2012. I would tell the American people who were full of hope when they elected him that they deserve to have hope but the rest of the “other America” does not. They deserve to have some asshole like Bush, even Sarah Palin. They want incompetent, inarticulate regular Joes? Well, then they can have it. President Obama is just too good for America, we don’t deserve it, we need to sink into another depression or have a very divisive civil war, and let me tell you, this one is going to be a culture war.

I for one, refuse to go back in the closet, I will not be humiliated by any of these fucking Evangelicals nor will I admit that there is anything wrong with being a progressive-liberal as my opinions and beliefs are diametrically opposed to those of the Republicans.

So, if these elections really reflect the power of the insanity that is the ultra-right conservative wingnut wing of the Republican Party, then the rest of the Republicans deserve them and they deserve to have been hijacked by these fringe elements because they refused to repudiate them when they should have. A lot of middle of the road conservatives are going to find themselves excoriated by this fanatical base who insists in conservative purity, no ifs, no buts. To these idiots 90% of the people in America is not conservative enough nor do they qualify to fly the Republican banner.

The spin we are going to hear tomorrow is going to be infuriating to some of us. They will try to spin it into a defeat for Obama and a great triumph for the purity of conservatism; we are poised to usher in a new era of McCarthyism and the establishment of a theocracy. FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKERS!
