8th Anniversary: A sad chapter in our history
A lot of things have changed since those horrible attacks on our nation and a lot has not.
Our hurt, our deep sense of loss remains. Our resolve and patriotism is almost intact.
I say almost because there have been some who have used these regrettable attacks to derive profit and political advantage.
Our previous President and his administration sadly did so and exploited the fear and hurt the American people were experiencing to govern and to get re-elected.
Rudy Giuliani even used it as a tool in his platform to launch his Presidential campaign. For the most part it has been Republicans who have conveniently used this sad event to gain political advantage.
These are not empty words folks, this is a reality that we have to deal with, and deal with it we will by rejecting anyone who uses this event as a tool for political gain or to trample the Constitution.
Today, in remembrance to all those who lost their lives that day, there will be vigils and ceremonies that will pay homage to their lost lives.
Let’s try to remember them and the cowardly attack and put aside all this bitter rivalry.
