5 Cuban spies retrial, my house is burglarized
“The Cuban Five (Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, and René González) are five Cuban intelligence officers convicted of espionage, conspiracy to commit murder, and other illegal activities in the United States. The Five were part of a Cuban spy network which observed and infiltrated a number of Cuban-American groups, some of which had been responsible for terrorist attacks on Cuba: Alpha 66, the F4 Commandos, the Cuban American National Foundation, and Brothers to the Rescue.
At their trial, evidence was presented that the Five had infiltrated Brothers to the Rescue (a Miami-based organization which had on numerous occasions entered Cuban airspace and dropped leaflets into Cuba), had obtained employment at the Key West Naval Air Station in order to send the Cuban government reports about the base, and had attempted to penetrate the Miami facility of US Southern Command. On February 24, 1996, two Brothers to the Rescue aircraft were shot down by Cuban military jets in international airspace while flying away from Cuban airspace, killing the four US citizens aboard. One of the Five, Gerardo Hernández, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, for supplying information to the Cuban government which led to the shoot down.
Why is this significant? I was closely associated with one of the defendants and participants in this ring. He owned a small magazine operation called “Mercado” and I was the person who got him started by buying a couple of advertising pages for my advertising agency. I placed some computer company ads and it went well. I even attended a computer show in Sao Paulo, Brazil where Nilo was present. He and I shared lunch and conversation. Never did I even get an inkling that he was involved in spying.
However, the day after he was arrested, my house was burglarized. Among the items taken
was my computer and a valuable painting. On the bedroom dresser there was a very expensive watch and a lot of my ex-wife’s jewelry. Lots of other valuables were not taken and it kind of leaves a big question: Were these real thieves or was this a planned burglary to take my computer and see if I had any ties to the group of spies?
Fortunately, I think all they would find in my computer were my business files and a lot, I mean a lot of porn. I’m sure some dumb fuck computer geek had to jerk off watching the stuff I had saved on my hard drive. FUCK YOU FBI OR CIA.

Can you even govern if you start with this premise?
How can you govern effectively if you plant the doubt and the distrust in government on your very first day in office? Reagan did just that, when he said in his Inaugural Address that “Government was the problem”. Yes, Mr. Poster Boy of Conservatism, Government is the problem when it is in the hands of Republicans.

One response from a reader:
This one seems to object to my use of curse words or foul language. He says that I am “too insulting to be credible”.
My answer is simply this: I can’t slap these assholes across the face or water-board them to make them tell the truth. I can’t hit them with a 2 X 4 to have them come to their senses. I only have one weapon at my disposal: LANGUAGE. Since the English language tends to be somewhat bland, and with these people anything you say will go in one ear and out the other, the only way I know how is to shock them with a “FUCK”, MOTHER FUCKER or “SHITHEAD” now and then.
Remember this: PROFANITY IS THE SALT AND PEPPER OF THE LANGUAGE STEW.

HIV VACCINE SHOWS PROMISE
An experimental vaccine tested in Thailand has cut the risk of HIV infection by almost a third. This represents the first major breakthrough in research of the disease in a decade, and experts claim that it’s the first step on the ladder to a full vaccine, though full prevention is unlikely anytime soon. This is still great news though: 33 million people around the world have HIV, and last year there were 7,370 new diagnoses in the UK alone. So many talented people have died of Aids, Freddie Mercury and Herb Ritts are just two of many, and any progress, especially this significant step, is of the utmost importance.
