Episcopal Church leaders have nominated several openly gay and lesbian candidates for assistant bishop and bishop positions in Los Angeles and Minnesota. The New York Times reported that the Diocese of Los Angeles nominated two openly gay priests for assistant bishop positions, and a search committee in Minnesota also nominated a lesbian candidate for state bishop.
Members of the Israeli gay community rallied in Tel Aviv on Sunday after a gunman killed two people at a gay youth center and escaped the scene. Rainbow flags filled the streets and people gathered to mourn the victims and protest homophobia. The community center reopened yesterday as the police continued to hunt for the person responsible for the attack.
The alleged killer of Seaman August Provost committed suicide while in custody on Friday, according to ABC affiliate KTRK-TV. The U.S. Navy reported that Jonathan Campos killed himself by ingesting a large amount of toilet paper in his holding area. Provost, who was gay, was allegedly shot several times by Campos on June 30th, but his death was not being investigated as a hate crime.
AAA South will begin treating married same-sex couples as families when determining rates for membership in the auto club. The change in policy follows lobbying by Georgia Equality and Equality Florida on the issue. The president and CEO of AAA South said the new policy includes gay and lesbian spouses regardless of where they were married, even in other countries.

Last week, the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission voted unanimously for a resolution calling on the city to amend its anti-discrimination policy to include transgender people. The resolution will now be presented to the city’s Diversity Task Force, followed by the full City Council. Fort Worth amended its policy previously in 2000 to include sexual orientation.

Eco-Lillypad
Japan realizing its massive future energy needs has decided to build ECO rigs that are
generators which measure 1.2 miles by 0.5 miles that ground various alternate energy collectors like solar arrays, wind turbines and other green sources. Each of these Eco Rigs could produce around 300 megawatt hours of power, scientists even estimate that strapping three such Rigs could produce enough energy as a standard Nuclear power station. The power generated from these ECO-Rigs could be used to fuel colossal underwater banks of LEDs which could use these platforms as nurseries for specially selected seaweed that 
absorbs carbon dioxide and feeds fish and plankton. Deep-sea water that is rich in minerals will enhance the seaweed growth. The wind turbines will power pumps that will then draw the water to the surface these rigs which will be unmanned and comprise several hexagonal platforms.Note - Pictured above is the Lilypad, another concept structure.
These village-sized platforms will be seen popping up on the Japanese coastline within a decade, all we can do is just wait and watch while the Japanese take strides into greener energy.
